Why is custom hearing protection important?

People who work every day in a noisy environment such as the metal industry can develop hearing problems over time. These problems may include an annoying ringing that never goes away, buzzing ears, and reduced hearing.

Under the Dutch Working Conditions Act, 80 dB(A) is the limit. If noise on the work floor exceeds this limit, the employer is obliged to provide proper hearing protection. If the noise only occasionally rises above 80 dB(A), the use of earplugs and/or earmuffs is permitted. In all other situations, custom-made hearing protection is a far better alternative.
