What is the difference between hard and soft hearing protection?

Most of our earplugs are available in both hard and soft material. Both variants have an optimal fit, but there are slight differences.

Hard otoplastics are made of acrylic. This material is hard and smooth. Despite the hard material, they are no less comfortable than soft otoplastics. In fact, because of the smooth surface, they are easy to insert into the ear. The material is also comfortable to wear during hot conditions. People who work in a bakery, for example, we recommend using hard otoplastics. Another advantage is that hard earplugs are just a bit easier to clean. Especially when there is some tarnish on them after wearing them for a long time.

Advantages of acrylic hearing protectors: longer life, more hygienic and easy to clean.

A potential disadvantage of loud hearing protection is that after wearing them for long periods of time (think over 5 hours), they can start to feel uncomfortable.

Soft otoplastics are made of silicone material. This is soft and specially made to minimize the occlusion effect - the effect that closing off the ear canal makes one's own voice sound dull - and are therefore often used, for example, by music artists. Or people music lovers who place great value on sound quality. The silicone hearing protectors are also very suitable for motorcyclists, as these earplugs fit comfortably under the motorcycle helmet.

Advantages of silicone hearing protectors: more color options and with silicone hearing protectors you don't have to get used for as long because of the softer material.
