How are custom earplugs produced?

Your custom earplugs start with an impression of your own ear canal. We take it during your appointment: the fitting itself takes about five minutes, and with the advice conversation we schedule twenty.

1. The impression

We first look into your ear with an otoscope. If there is too much earwax in the way it has to come out first, otherwise the impression will not be accurate. We then place a small dam in your ear canal and fill the ear with a soft paste. It sets in a few minutes and comes out in one piece. It is painless; mostly you feel a little pressure.

2. Production in our own lab

The impression goes to our own lab, where it is scanned and worked up digitally into the model of your earplug, in the colour and material you chose. Hard earplugs are made of acrylic and soft ones of silicone; the difference between hard and soft mainly determines wearing comfort and maintenance.

3. Finishing and inspection

Every set is finished by hand: the edges are polished and the channel for the filter is drilled to size. We then fit the chosen filter and check both plugs against the model.
